One third of payment cards are used for payments every day, and another 30 percent of them at least once a week - these are the results of the latest MasterIndex Serbia research. The reason for the frequent use of payment cards lies primarily in the simplicity and practicality that this payment method brings, which was pointed out by 33 percent of respondents, while another 20 percent of them appreciate constant access to funds on the account.
'The ascending trend of cashless payments in Serbia is well evidenced by the data from the MasterIndex research that not only standard and contactless card payments are the first choice even for amounts up to 4,000 RSD, but that it is almost twice as common as cash, i. e 65 to 33 percent of respondents. Increasingly digital lifestyles of citizens will pave the way for further implementation of cashless solutions, while at the same time, the priority for the public and private sector should be expanding the reception network outside city centers and among non-traditional traders', claimed Jelena Ristić, country manager for Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina at Mastercard, and added that an excellent example of public-private cooperation in this area is the Better Way program, through which 25,000 entrepreneurs, SMEs and state institutions will be terminalized in the next three years.
