Bangkok most popular tourist destinations on the Mastercard list

Bangkok is the most popular destination per international overnight visitors on this year's Mastercard Global Destinations Cities Index that was released today.
This study ranks 132 popular global destinations and gives predictions regarding the number of visits and visitor spending to the end of 2016. This year, 21.47 million international passengers will travel to Bangkok, followed by London (19.88milion), Paris (18.03) , Dubai (15.27milion) and New York (12.75milion).
As for the top 20 cities, more people are visiting them for personal reasons, with the exception of Shanghai which is frequently visited for work. The biggest share of expenditure goes on shopping, while in Europe, it is on meals.
