Bangkok the most visited city in the world; tourists stay the longest in New York, spend the most in Dubai
The jubilee 10th annual Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index showed that Bangkok is the most popular city in the world with more than 20 million overnight stays in 2017, which is about 200,000 stays more than the second ranked London, but 2.6 million stays more than the third ranked Paris. Looking at expenditure that tourists make in the cities they visit, Dubai tops all other cities with $537 tourists averagely spend each day. Paris came as second ($302), followed by Singapore ($286). Belgrade was not ranked among the 162 most popular cities, and the only city from the region listed in teh Index is Sofia which came as 132nd.
