Card usage in the region: Bulgaria, Serbia, BiH and Croatia debit markets stepping away from cash
Mastercard announced comparative results of MasterIndex research conducted in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Croatia. The results show that debit cards are the most popular card product, as Bulgarians, Serbs and Bosnians most frequently purchase groceries with debit cards, while Croats use it to purchase clothes. Clothes is also most common item purchased with credit cards in Croatia, Serbian and Bosnian respondents use credit cards to purchase furniture and home appliances, while Bulgarians purchase food that way. When it comes to travelling, more than a half Croats (57%) stay in their country for vacation, 40% Bosnians opt for the Croatian seaside, while 59% Serbs state Greece as their top summer destination.
