Galenika donated funds in the amount of 10,000 (ten thousand) euros to the Institute of Oncology of Vojvodina (IOV). The goal of the donation is to support the efforts of this important institution in the fight against breast cancer through a donation to improve the treatment conditions of patients within the Institue’s clinic for Operative Oncology. During October, for the fourth year in a row, Galenika implemented a socially responsible campaign dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of prevention, early diagnosis and regular self-examinations, while allocating funds from the sale of Panthenol products.
"We are proud that we dedicated special attention to the fight against breast cancer this October as well. Support to healthcare institutions is one of the key priorities in Galenika's commitment to people and health care. Prevention in the fight against breast cancer is crucial, and for the fourth year in a row Galenika is focusing on the importance of this topic through a comprehensive campaign at the national level. We are grateful to all citizens who supported the action, because together we contribute to raising awareness of the importance of prevention and regular examinations, as well as improving the conditions of diagnosis and treatment of oncology patients," said Ricardo Vian Marques, General Manager of Galenika.
The numbers speaks in favor of the importance of the Institute of Oncology of Vojvodina (IOV) and the dedication of its employees. Institute of Onclogy of Vojvodina, which is a member of the Organization of European Institutes of Oncology, is a highly specialized health, educational and scientific-research institution in the field of oncology, where the most complex specialized, preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation methods and procedures are performed. Namely, IOV doctors perform more than 60 thousand examinations annually. Out of a total of even 2500 surgeries last year, 800 performed breast surgeries. Institute of Oncology of Vojvodina is one of the few state institutions where breast reconstruction operations (about 80 operations per year) are routinely performed on patients who need to have their breasts amputated.
"Every day is a day to fight breast cancer and it is important for women to be responsible for their health. Self-examination, medical examinations and other preventive measures are of great importance in the fight against breast cancer. Therefore, the continuous efforts made by the Galenika to raise awareness on this topic are of crucial importance. On behalf of the Institute of Oncology of Vojvodina, I want to thank Galenika for the donation. Through socially responsible behavior, Galenika enabled us to purchase the much-needed equipment that will contribute to even better reatment of our patients," said the director of the Institute of Oncology of Vojvodina, Prof. Dr. Zoran Radovanović.
