European Week for Waste Reduction: Mindful Use of Resources Through Film

The European Week for Waste Reduction, held from 22 to 30 November, offers an ideal opportunity for young people in Serbia to reflect on their environmental footprint and take concrete action. EU Youth Cinema: Green Deal (EUYC:GD), a unique film-based educational program, once again invites young people in 12 European countries – including Serbia – to learn, debate, and participate in activities that encourage environmental awareness and critical thinking.
While prevention is important in every category, the theme of the 2025 European Week for Waste Reduction is electrical and electronic waste. Serbia, like many other countries, faces a growing e-waste challenge: as the consumption of electronic devices increases, so does the amount of discarded equipment. By integrating this topic into the EUYC:GD program during the European Week for Waste Reduction, the organizers aim to highlight how even small behavioral changes – from responsible recycling to extending the lifespan of devices – can contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
