Hewlett-Packard Founded on This Date
Nine years after they had sold their first product from their garage in Paolo Alto in California, William Hewlett and David Packard officially founded their company on this date in 1947. Opening of the garage was helped by their Stanford University professor in early 1939, with the capital investment of 538 dollars. It is interesting that the name was decided on by flipping a coin to see whose name will appear first in the title. Even though Packard had more luck, he himself decided that the company is to be called Hewlett -Packard. Today HP represents a leading global ICT company with the income of 126 billion dollars and profit nearly 12 bn in 2010.
