Maja Turković winner of the ’Female Leader of Energy Transition’ award
Maja Turković, Executive Vice President of CWP Europe, is one of the three winners of this year's ’Female Leader of Energy Transition’ award, awarded by the civil society organization Center for the Promotion of Sustainable Development - CPOR and the German organization for international cooperation GIZ, for exceptional results and commitment in the energy transition, democratization and decentralization of energy in Serbia. 

The award ’Leader of Energy Transition’ was awarded for the first time at the conference ’Women of Serbia in Sustainable Energy – Leadership for Energy Transition’, organized by the WISE Serbia network of women in sustainable energy, climate action, and environmental protection. Maja Turković was awarded in the category ’Women in Business and Investments’, for her pioneering contribution to the development of renewable energy sources in Serbia, decades of experience in the sector, active engagement in the creation of energy policy, and outstanding contribution to the community through support for young people and the promotion of female participation in energy. 

On the occasion of the award, Maja Turković, Executive Vice President of CWP Europe, said: ’I feel honored to be part of a community of exceptional women who, through their dedicated work, achieve positive and significant changes in the energy sector. This award is an inspiration and motivation for me to continue making efforts in further strengthening the field of renewable energy sources, innovation, and sustainable solutions, all thanks to the company CWP Europe, which I am proud to represent.’ 

This year, the Female Leader of Energy Transition’ award was given to the Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, in the category ’Decision Maker at the National and Local Level’, and Ana Džokić, in the category ’Civic Energy’. 

The WISE Serbia project promotes the active participation and role of women in sustainable energy. It was launched in 2017-2018, when the WISE Serbia network of women in sustainable energy was founded as one of the first networks of its kind in Europe and the world. The project is implemented by the civil society organization Center for the Promotion of Sustainable Development – CPOR in partnership with the German Organization for International Cooperation GIZ within the project ’Promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in Serbia’ and with the institutional support of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia.
