Mastercard cardholders in Montenegro will be able to use the Google Pay service brought to the local market by Mastercard with its partners from the banking sector. With the Google Pay service, citizens who use corresponding Android devices (the ones with Lollipop 5.0 or later operating system) can use their mobile phones to operate secure, fast, and practical cashless payments, which are already part of paying experience of Montenegrian citizens, in a physical environment. Cardholders will be enabled to save their Mastercard debit or credit cards for payments via Google Pay in the Google Wallet app, which is now available in Montenegro.
This new service is an example of Mastercard’s dedication to offering citizens innovations to simplify their everyday lives. As the use of cash is decreasing, citizens more often choose cashless payments as a secure, practical, and fast payment method, and this payment habit evolution is expected to continue into the future.
Jelena Ristić, Country Manager for Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro at Mastercard, said: „Freedom of choice and payment innovations are an important part of our strive to improve the quality of everyday life of Montenegro citizens. Launching Google Pay service will enable people to, at every moment, choose a more practical and more secure payment method in accordance with their needs. We are glad to cooperate with Google in order to give Montenegrian citizens simple, fast and secure payments, and we are proud of the fact that our security technologies are the reason why we are the first choice for the users, as well as for the business partners.
