Mastercard enables Google Pay payments in Serbia
08/24/2022 • Customer news
Starting today, cardholders of Mastercard® payment cards in Serbia will be able to use the Google PayTM service brought to the local market by Mastercard in cooperation with partners from the banking sector. With the Google Pay service, citizens using appropriate Android devices (those with Lollipop 5.0 or newer operating systems) can use their mobile phones to make safe, fast and practical contactless payments in a physical environment, which are already an integral part of the payment experience of Serbian citizens. Holders will be able to store their debit or credit Mastercard cards for payments via the Google Pay service within the Google Wallet (Google Wallet) digital wallet application, which is available in Serbia as of today.
Jelena Ristić, country manager for Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina at Mastercard, said: "Freedom of choice and innovation in payments are an important part of our efforts to improve the quality of everyday life for citizens of Serbia. The launch of the Google Pay service will allow people to continue to choose the most practical and secure payment method according to their needs at any time. We are happy to cooperate with Google in order to provide citizens of Serbia with simple, fast and secure payments, and we are proud of the fact that our secure technologies are the reason why we are the first choice for both users and partners from the business sector."
