MOL Group and partners have started gas production at the ACG field in Azerbaijan

MOL Group and its partners in a joint venture have achieved first gas production at the ACG field in Azerbaijan, where previously identified non-associated gas (NAG) reservoirs were discovered above and below the existing oil reservoirs.
The partners have completed drilling the first production well and have started testing activities. This marks the first time that commercial gas production has been established at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field, one of the largest oil fields in the world.
The initial well, drilled from the existing West Chirag platform, represents an important step toward the utilization of significant gas reserves in this field. In addition to enabling early production, the well will provide valuable data on the reservoir and production characteristics, which will help assess the resource base and plan the future development of the gas field.
It is estimated that the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field holds substantial gas resources, with up to 4 trillion cubic feet (about 112 billion cubic meters) of gas in place, with potential growth up to 6 trillion cubic feet. The gas and condensate produced from the well will be transported to the Sangachal terminal via existing ACG infrastructure.
After the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and BP, which operates the joint venture, MOL is the third-largest shareholder in the ACG project.
