MOL Group has achieved a significant milestone within its SHAPE TOMORROW strategy by successfully completing the first ISCC PLUS certified production using circular raw materials at its petrochemical plant in Tisaujvaros, Hungary.
The pilot test shows MOL's ability to convert circular raw materials, i.e. raw materials based on post-use plastic waste, into high-quality polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP). This represents a major step within the SHAPE TOMORROW strategy, by which MOL Group integrates the circular economy into its production and positions itself as a leader in sustainable petrochemicals in Central and Eastern Europe.
"This successful test shows that MOL Group can now process circular raw materials according to the ISCC PLUS certified process, turning plastic waste into new high-value products," said Peter Časzar, Senior Vice President of MOL Group Chemicals. "It is a significant step towards sustainable petrochemicals and strengthens our position as a leader in the circular economy in Central and Eastern Europe."
