The Need for Redefining PR Definition

The PR Society of America (PRSA) has initiated a campaign for redefining public relations. Namely, the current, official definition dates from 1982. We live in a world where changes are daily and almost nothing we are using is as old as the early 80ies. Is the new definition necessary?
