The latest MasterIndex research, the twelfth in a row conducted by Mastercard in Serbia, confirmed that card payments are an integral part of the daily trading activities of our citizens. The results show that 91% of respondents have a debit card, 29% a credit card, while every fourth respondent has both a debit and a credit card.
On the other hand, the study showed that among the main reasons why citizens do not have payment cards are unemployment (29%) and salary payment, social benefits and pensions in cash (17%). Also, almost one in three MasterIndex respondents, active cardholders, said they pay with cards every day, while another third of respondents said they use cards a couple of times a week.
