The best underwater films from around the world this year in Neum

The fourth edition of the Neum Underwater Film Festival will take place on August 23 and 24. 

The town of Neum in Herzegovina is proud to host the Neum Underwater Film Festival. The festival was founded with a deep respect for nature, to showcase the various forms of underwater filmmaking, regardless of the camera equipment used or the skill level of the filmmakers. All enthusiasts, whether amateurs or professionals, are invited to participate. 

The fourth edition of the Neum Underwater Film Festival brings new underwater films, i.e. at least 50 percent of the film was shot underwater. 

To submit a film to this festival you don't need to be a professional diver, the idea, people and nature are important. The pale idea of 'raising awareness in the preservation of nature' is not present here, here the Festival specifically and in the best way indicates the preservation of seas, lakes and rivers. 

The Neum Underwater Film Festival is the most recognizable in France, as evidenced by the art-underwater films, of which over 70 have arrived from France alone this year. 

The jury includes old and new faces, from media representatives, divers, directors, activists, and other names that will be presented in the coming days. 

"In the first row of the Festival, we see domestic and international filmmakers, who will find new inspiration for their films in Neum," said the founder of the festival, Ivo Mikulić. 

This Festival serves as a unique platform for the communication of authors, the general public and journalists, encouraging direct interaction and a significant exchange of knowledge as well as cultural and tourist promotion of the unique Neum. During two days in Neum, located in Herzegovina-Neretva County, participants will have the opportunity to associate with renowned authors, and at the same time establish connections with fellow enthusiasts, authors of underwater films. 

Neum Underwater Film Festival, in addition to filmmakers, also brings new tourists to Neum, who positively promote this beautiful Herzegovinian seaside town on their media profiles. 

As part of cultural networking, this year Marisa Checcetti, Italian film artist, author of underwater art films, and underwater dance and choreography instructor, is coming from Italy. 

Every year, more and more partners and patrons recognize the excellence of this unique festival, which gives a boost to this cultural event that positions Neum, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosnia and Herzegovina on the world map of excellence and recognition. 

The festival starts on August 23, 2024, at the Zenit Hotel in Neum. 

On the first day of the Neum Underwater Film Festival, on Friday at 5 p.m., an accompanying and student program is planned. The opening and screenings of films in the official competition begin at 7:30 p.m. The group Le Chicks performs at the festival, and entrance to the festival is free. 

In order to provide the participants with an unforgettable experience, the organizer of the festival, Udruga Standard, is organizing an ecological and educational workshop this year, on August 24, for all current and future underwater videographers, to raise the level of knowledge and safety in underwater videography, which will bring new stunning underwater works of art in the next period, to the delight of viewers.
