This year's fitness and health survey, conducted by the pharmaceutical company Galenika, reveals the main health challenges faced by overweight individuals in Serbia.
When assessing their excess weight, 37% of men report having between five and ten extra kilograms. The same is true for 45% of women.
The most common health issue related to being overweight or obese is heart disease, including high blood pressure. As many as 32% of respondents in Serbia report such problems (19% of men and 13% of women).
The percentage of men who say they have not experienced any health problems related to excess weight is 63%. Significantly fewer women report being free of such health issues—46%. This difference between men and women suggests that women tend to be more critical and aware when it comes to health, medical check-ups, and prevention.
