Today marks World PR Day: The role of public relations in a divided world
Today, World PR Day is being observed across the globe, dedicated to highlighting the role of public relations in building trust, overcoming divisions, and fostering dialogue in an increasingly polarized society. This year’s theme - “Building Bridges and Navigating Polarization” - emphasizes how communication can connect opposing sides and contribute to solving global challenges.

This year’s examples confirm this: during the COP28 climate summit, PR campaigns like “One Planet, One Future” successfully brought together world leaders and the public around a common mission – the fight against climate change.

In healthcare, campaigns advocating for equal access to vaccines and combating misinformation, such as “One World, One Health”, have shown how PR can serve the public interest.

In the fight against fake news, the PR profession has joined forces with leading media outlets and tech companies through initiatives like “Truth in Media” and the Trusted News Initiative, aiming to promote truthful and responsible reporting.

At a time when only 47% of people globally trust the media and 55% trust governments (Edelman Trust Barometer 2025), public relations is taking on a new, vital role - serving as a bridge between institutions and citizens.
