We continue our investments in renewable energy: we are building a 37.4 MW solar park and an energy storage system with a capacity of 40 MWh in Algyő. The investment will significantly contribute to the energy independence of MOL’s Algyő facilities, improve the flexibility of electricity supply, and reduce the site’s CO₂ emissions by 13,000 tons per year.
The energy challenges ahead compel us to take steps toward a sustainable future. Our strategic goal is a smart energy transition, for which energy storage is essential, as it enables the integration and flexible use of sustainable energy systems. Algyő is a symbolic location for us – where six decades of industrial experience meet the technology of the future. This investment not only supports the energy independence of the local site but also represents another step towards a greener, more self-sufficient, and competitive Hungary. – said Péter Archibald Schubert, Vice President of Exploration and Production at MOL Hungary.
