Strategic communications and global public relations firm Burson-Marsteller conducted a study “World leaders on Facebook 2017”, analyzing 590 Facebook pages that represent 169 governments and have a combined total of 311 million followers as of February 1, 2017. In 2016, they published a total of 398,982 posts which have garnered 772 million interactions (comments, likes and shares) which implies increasing importance of presence on Facebook, which has 1.86 billion monthly active users and 1.23 billion people that are active every day, as latest figures showed. The Study covered followed topics: most followed world leaders; most followed regional leaders; world leaders with the most interactions; how often do they post; does activity matter; what type of content do they post; live video; Facebook reactions; the most visited institutions; do world leaders follow each other.
